A lot of people do not share in this opinion for one reason or the other which they consider valid
But here are more valid reasons why the December holiday period is the best time of the year to get that job you have been looking for all year long
THERE IS LESS COMPETITION
A lot of job seekers will relax their efforts in this period because they feel there will be fewer openings. Others will travel for the holidays, while others have simply been carried away with festivities.
So while a lot of people have relaxed, this is the time to up your game
PEOPLE WILL BE MOVING ON TO BETTER THINGS
Now, this is not to say that the available jobs will be dregs or worthless.
people will always seek better opportunities up their career ladders and for you, somewhere is a good place to start right?
So this period is when those who have gotten new opportunities will be planning to move with 2021 in view, meaning that you stand a good chance of securing placement
THERE ARE MORE NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
December is usually packed with activities. Weddings, end of the year parties, get-togethers, Christmas carols and all. This is an opportunity to add to your professional and social network by building purposeful relationships with those you’d meet
Who knows, you just might be speaking with an executive of some big company
THE MOOD IS LIGHTER
People get in an exceptionally good mood in December, and so are the hiring managers, or other executives in an organization, reason why it is the best time to approach those organizations you have been targeting
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Review your job hunting strategies
- Review your CV to fit the organizations you want to apply, and to include new skills and experiences you have acquired
- Review your LinkedIn profile to include new skills and experiences
- Develop or improve your networking skills
