THE CONTINENT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- The Seven continent classification system (consisting of Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, Australia/Oceania, and Antarctica.
- The Six continent classification system (merging Europe and Asia to create Eurasia and merging North and South America to create The Americas)
- The Five continent classification system (merging Eurasia and Americas Together)

ANTARCTICA
There are no countries on the continent of Antarctica. Instead, seven sovereign states that have territorial claims in Antarctica: Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
POPULATION AND SIZE
ASIA: 44.6 million square kilometers with a 4.6 billion population
AFRICA: 30 million square kilometers with a 1.3 billion population
NORTH AMERICA: 24.5 million square kilometers with 369 million people
SOUTH AMERICA: 17.8 million square kilometers with 431 million people
EUROPE: 9.9 million square kilometers with 746 million people
AUSTRALIA: 7.7 million square kilometers, Australia’s population is often listed together with Oceania, which is 43 million people.
ANTARCTICA: 14.2 million square kilometers and there are no permanent residents there. However, up to 4,400 researchers and personnel live there in the summer and 1,100 are there in the winter.
