Muslims gathered within the Kenyan metropolis of Mombasa for Friday prayers for the first time since March when all locations of worship have been ordered to shut as a part of coronavirus restrictions.

The authorities have now allowed them to reopen however provided that strict guidelines are adopted.

At Arab Boys Mosque, no kids or old people have been in sight as solely those between the ages of 13 and 58 were allowed in.

Worshippers have been required to come back with their very own prayer mats and to maintain their distance from each other.

A most of 100 people was allowed in.

Temperatures have been checked on the entrance, face masks needed to be worn and hands sanitised.

For the first time too, the imams have been seen studying their sermons while carrying masks.

Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki, who was one of many worshippers, believes extra mosques will begin re-opening as he says the principles aren’t too onerous.

However, some Muslim leaders have continued to induce worshippers to maintain praying at residence to cut back the chance of an infection.
